Grilling indoor or outdoor (if weather permits) during the Big Game is a great way to get the party going! I thought that a turkey burger could be a different take on the usual beef version.This is really easy and can be served as a friendly patty burger with a lot of fries or in small size bites as an appetizer!! The trick is not to make a burger too dry,as it needs just a little touch of … some fat. Not too much just a touch.

Cook some thinly chopped onions and garlic in 1 tablespoon of butter, melted with 1 tablespoon of olive oil, add a touch of water and that should make your patties juicy enough!!! Then add a couple of tablespoons of mustard and tabasco, and here they are done tasty, juicy delicious!

Turkeys Burgers

Ingredients  Serve : 6 to 8 medium patties

  • 2 lbs ground turkey, mixed white and dark meat
  • 12  cup finely chopped red pepper
  • 1 small red onion thinly chopped
  • 2 gloves garlic thinly chopped
  • 1 to 2  tablespoons mustard
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons Tabasco
  • 2 teaspoons seasoning salt or soy
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ground pepper
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper (or to taste)
  • 1/4  to 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4  cup water
  • 1/2 cup grated American cheese
  • Barbecue sauce to coat (store bought)
  • Spicy salsa for topping

Melt butter combined with olive oil in a medium skillet, add peppers, cook for 3 minutes then add onion and cook the mixture softly for 7 to 9 minutes till tender, add garlic cook 3 minutes, then remove and reserve.

In a large bowl mix all ingredients, turkey, breadcrumbs, mustard, tabasco, grated cheese, salt and pepper. Mix well with a fork or your clean hands, forming patties with your hands, without pressing the meat.

Place on a large plate covered with a plastic wrap and refrigerate at least 4 hours up to 24 hours, to let all flavors combine.

When ready to grill or cook, light  oil grill or skillet. if using a grill cook the patties on the hottest part of the grill for 1  minute on each side  then move it to the cooler part and grill for 7 to 10 minutes.

If using a skillet, oil the skillet and cook about 5 to 6 minutes at your taste, at your taste.

When still warm coat them with the barbecue sauce, serve with buns or no buns, fries, greens  and top with a spoon of spicy salsa!!!
